Postpartum
doula services

Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my postpartum doula practice was put on hold in 2020. This information remains because I believe it is important to educate the public on the availability of postpartum doulas and what they are and do. Please feel free to contact me for more information, virtual support services, or other referrals.

What are you needing most during this transitional time?

A postpartum doula provides comprehensive and customized services to meet the needs of parents, infants, and families during the transitional time after birth, fostering or adoption of an infant. My focus as a postpartum doula is to help people be the kind of parents they want to be by providing support, encouragement, assessment, nurturing, education, and referrals, particularly during the “fourth trimester” (birth to three months). I believe that advocating for maternal, family, and child welfare in our society benefits everyone, and that it takes a community to raise a child.

Services include: non-judgmental listening and emotional support; perinatal mood and anxiety disorder assessment; education and support for lactation, breastfeeding, and newborn development and care; connecting families to community supports; resources and referrals as needed; help with infant care to facilitate rest and renewal for new parents; meal preparation for the family; organization of household and baby supplies for efficiency; light household tasks such as tidying, dishes, and baby laundry; and providing support to older children as needed.

**Virtual support sessions are available via Zoom online meeting, telephone/email, or a combination of whatever works for you. Virtual support is $40/hour, with a 4-hour minimum. Typical sessions are 1-1.5 hours at a time, but may vary based on your needs and preferences. Virtual packages cover topics such as emotional and mental health support, postpartum and logistical planning, lactation, feeding, and sleep assessments, educational materials, and referrals to other resources.**
Contact me for sliding scale availability and other options. If I am not the right doula for you for any reason, I can help you find the perfect match. I believe everyone deserves high quality postpartum care, and will be happy to provide appropriate referrals.

Based in Kirkland; serving the greater Seattle area.
**Virtual support can be utilized by clients in any location!**

Support during transitional times

“I was fortunate to have Alexia's support in the weeks following the birth of my son. I found her energy to be very calm and comforting in the blur that came postpartum. She is a great communicator and listener, an excellent cook and a baby whisperer. ... I am so grateful that I was able to connect with Alexia and have her be a part of my postpartum story. I cannot recommend her highly enough!”
